Making a crib is as easy as it gets. Skip the dust ruffle and bumper pad—all you need is a fitted sheet and one blanket, folded or hung over the side rail.

Extra pillows displayed at the foot of the bed give this standard twin a daybed feel.

Keep an Extra Set of Clean Sheets on Hand

Washing the bedding is a big chore at our house, and my instinct is to put it off as long as possible. To take the sting out of it, I keep an extra set of clean sheets in a basket under each bed (or in the bedroom closet or a dresser drawer). When it’s time to change the sheets, the kids and I can quickly strip the beds and make them up with the clean set from under the bed. Then I can take my time doing the washing. Tomorrow. Or the next day.

By keeping an extra set of sheets in the rotation, you won’t have to beat the clock to get the sheets laundered, dried, and back on the bed before bedtime. Bonus: This trick is also helpful for those middle-of-the-night accidents.
